A Little History on Nail Varnish

Nail varnish has been around for a long time. It did not start as we know it now, but the idea was basically the same in the beginning. To take a look at how nail varnish has developed over the centuries, read through the following.

Nail varnish was used in both ancient Egypt and ancient China to show royalty. Both of these cultures used the color red. Those who wore red on their fingers were part of the royalty of the time, and those who were not royalty were not allowed to wear the color red on their fingers. It was a simple way to show ranking and add beauty all at the same time.

In some places only royalty was allowed to wear the nail varnish. Nobody else was allowed to color their fingernails. This was only true for some places though. There were places where the peasants were allowed to wear some coloring on the fingers, but it had to be very pale so that it didn't stand out like the colors that were worn by the royal class.

As this trend continued throughout the coming centuries, it changed a bit here and there. Before long, everyone was allowed to wear colors on their fingers. Not just those that were extremely pale, but all colors. After this, the process of coloring the tips of the fingers became a much more popular one. The addition of more colors meant that each person could color theirs to fit their preference.

During these times,it was not what we know it to be today. Back then the fingernails were colored using berries or other things that had color to them, and the fingernails were stained with the juices. This was a more complicated process, and took more time than painting the fingernails does today.

During the 1970's the idea for the modern nail varnish was inspired by the invention of the new car paint. After the process of creating a paint for cars that was easily applied came about, that concept was taken and transformed into something for the fingernails. At first it was a crude and basic concept of what we have today, but over the last few decades nail varnish has evolved into what it is now. There is even more progresses being made in this area lately as companies are looking for ways to create greener products. They are now starting to create green nail varnish that has less toxic chemicals in it.

In all, nail varnish has been around for a long while throughout history. With the recent changes that are being made by the companies that produce the products so that they can help keep the environment safe and make the world last longer, it doesn't look like the use of it is going to slow down anytime in the near future.
